Betweenle hides a five-letter word inside an alphabetical range. Two boundary words frame the search, and the secret sits somewhere between them in dictionary order. Every guess must land inside the current bounds, and each verdict slides one boundary closer to the answer. The range only ever shrinks.

Stop thinking in meanings. A guess that feels close can sit hundreds of positions away, while a boring word nobody loves lands near the middle. The tiles do not care about cleverness. Position is the entire game, and the sooner guesses start treating words as bookmarks, the faster boards fall.

That reframe is the whole skill. Players who keep guessing by association fight the game. Players who guess by alphabet cooperate with it. The solver only ever cooperates, which is why its suggestions look dull and win constantly.
